Make a wish
I had a visit from a Cat in a Hat this morning, and he told me: “True Faith, WISH, WISH, and WISH”
There was this little problem; I’m allergic to cats and I had to have my Ventolin inhaler and ask the cat to go to another place that I am not in these days.
Well the place will be my blog, I am busy these days so I can’t visit it; instead I will put this cat in it and you Bloggers could ask him for a wish.
He will be here until I write a new post.

I wish i find a cute, rich, smart,funny,nice,friendly,down-to-earth,drop-dead-gorgeous,hummer-owner who likes me and wants to marry me.

Q8blogger, how would you translate ‘wish’ into Arabic? Secondly, when quoting from the Qur’an, quote correctly
(ومن يعظم شعائر الله فإنها من تقوى القلوب).

there is no exact word for wish in arabic as it something used by pagen europe before chritianity
besides its pretty clear what i mean

this whole make a wish thing
we are so induced in other cultures that we even do their misgudance
wishing is 100% pagen
and muslims should not do it
as it is a form of du3a2 to other than Allah
and it is a custom of Kuffar that we should not do

So just because you can’t translate ‘wish’ into Arabic means that it has no equivilant in Arabic?
Of course ‘wishes’ are expressed in Arabic. Do not ‘ya layt’ and ‘tamannayt’ give similar meanings?
Wish: hope for; prefer or wish to do something; make or express a wish; “I wish that the war was over”; a specific feeling of desire; feel or express a desire or hope concerning the future or fortune of..;an expression of some desire or inclination; “I could tell that it was his wish that the guests leave”; “his crying was an indirect request for attention”
invoke upon; “wish you a nice evening”; “bid farewell”
Any more wishes? What’s pagan about that? I wish you would understand… or rather I wish you can help me understand…have I said anything pagan…shirk? ma’adhallah.

oh.. I didn’t know this topic was still on…. yalla one more wish wouldn’t hurt….
ummm… I wish people from various religions & various nationalities would live peacefully amongst each other, and show respect to everyone’s thoughts and beliefs even if it didn’t make any sense.

the whole point is you have to put it in cultural and other contexts

then sorry if im harsh but thats shirk, and i only assume that yr kidding
but we shouldnt make a joke out of kuffr( and yes i know these words are scarey but they can be used in places like these)

when people make a wish infront of theor birthday cakes and similar stuff like make a ish on a star
or throw a coin in a well or whatever
or make a wish on christmas eve etc
thats where it becomes wrong
it becomes pagen what you just said if you direct it towards that cat in the pic
either way im not going to argue on the petty details of issue
im sure you get the over all picture of my message
and my intention is pure inshallah
its much easier to get out ourselves from what we doubt and follow whats clear

وَالَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ

يَدْعُو مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُ وَمَا لَا يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الضَّلَالُ الْبَعِيدُ

Inshallah these ayat are sufficient to show how serious what we talk about and that we shouldnt even take it as a joke or unseriously

The Cat was obvioulsy put there as a joke,how can a pic of a cat answer ur wish??? another way of looking at it would be TF trying to find out what we would wish for if granted a chance.
I understand u are a very keen muslim and want to turn the whole population into the muslim ummah (good luck)but u are obviously pushing the wrong buttons, coz though ur intentions are all good u are creating a wrong image.
Nobody likes to be preached…approach in an other manner maybe u will get ur message right.
Dont bring Islam into everything.have u heard the phrase “Deen wa Dunya”, everything has its time and place…

Of course one needs to learn to take advice before they can give it. If you don’t know how to take advice, you’ll never now how the person feels when you give it. So, like the Wise one has mentioned, bil-hikmat wal-maw’izat al-hasanah.
The Prophet alayhi salawat came as a Mercy and not to send Everyone to Hell. (I wander what he would be thinking of what some people do in His name.)
I don’t have a prob with your form of Islam; as mentioned, it’s the attitude.
